Brooklyn Nets sign Stephen Dennis, James Mays and Carleton Scott
On Monday, Billy King, the general manager of the Brooklyn Nets, made the announcement that they have brought three free agents Stephen Dennis, James Mays and Carleton Scott for training camp.
At the moment, the Nets roster stands at 18 with teams being allowed to invite up to 20 players for the training camp. However, they will have to limit down to 15 players before the start of the regular season as per NBA rules.
Dennis comes in after spending some time with the Bakersfield Jam of the NBA Development League. Prior to his time in the D-League, he played four years of college ball with the Kutztown University of Pennsylvania.
Mays will be arriving in Brooklyn after playing the last few years overseas in countries including China, Turkey and Puerto Rico. He played ACC college basketball for Clemson.
Scott, the third player being brought into training camp, has the highest chance of making it to the Nets final roster. He averaged 13.6 points and 6.6 rebounds, playing in Austrian league recently.
New York Knicks in pursuit of Kenyon Martin
There have been speculations that the New York Knicks are looking to bring in veteran forward Kenyon Martin to roundup their summer plans and gear up for the coming season. However, at the moment, Martin still refuses to sign for
a veteran minimum and continues to be on the best free agents still available on the market.
Martin might have to give up on his monetary demands soon as there are not a lot of teams lining up to land the 34 year old forward, and among all those, getting more than a veteran’s minimum is going to be very hard.
Considering the financial aspect of the situation, Martin will be best suited to join the Knicks because he has experience of playing with several players on that roster. In the past, Martin has played with both Carmelo Anthony
and J.R Smith during their time with the Denver Nuggets. Martin last played for the Los Angeles Clippers, but even after being quite effective in the later stages, another merger between the two sides couldn’t take place this off season.
