Blatche signs a one year non-guaranteed contract with the Nets, who have been looking for a player to back up Kris Humphries and Brook Lopez....
The Brooklyn Nets, in continued efforts to put a championship contending roster on the court next season, have added forward Andray Blatche to the roster.
The team has officially announced that Blatcheis  now a member of the Nets, and the power forward himself took to twitter to announce the signing. A source close to the situation has informed that the contract signed by Blatche
is a one year non guaranteed deal which could see him earning the veteran’s minimum.
Blatche was amnestied by the Washington Wizards at the end of the last season, and is expected to earn $7.1 million from the Wizards this upcoming season as part of the amnesty rules.
The forward was a rising star in the Wizards roster, but has earned a reputation for not being a team player. At a young age of 26, he has many years ahead of him in the NBA and could still turn around his fortunes.
So far in his career, he has played 7 seasons, all for the Wizards, and averaged a career high 16.8 points and 8.2 rebounds during the 2010-2011 NBA season. Last season however, Blatche’s numbers fell down significantly and with
the attitude problems rising quickly as well, he was amnestied by the team at the end of the season.
Blatche will now join an impressive Nets roster, where he could serve as a back-up to either Kris Humphries or Brook Lopez. The Nets do not have a solid centre to back up the starting spot, and Blatche could prove to be a valuable
addition if he is able to show the same consistency he exhibited during the 2010-2011 NBA season.
Blatche will also be surrounded by All Star players Deron Williams and Joe Johnson in the back court, putting him in a much better position to score on the offensive end.
Darren Weissman, a Miami based basketball trainer who has worked with Blatche in the past had some words of praise for the forward.
“He was just very young when he came into the league, but he's learned a lot over the years. Dray is very diverse and he can contribute in many ways. He's an excellent shooter who can stretch the defence. He can also put it on
the floor. The Nets just got a lot better,” said Weissman.
