The 26 year old forward is hoping to start things new by agreeing to a one year deal with Brooklyn Nets
Early in the off season, Andray Blatche was waived off by the Washington Wizards and the search for a new team had been going on every since. The search at one point got so desperate that Blatche had even considered playing in
the D-League just to be back on court. However, according to latest reports, there would be no need of that as Blatche has reached an agreement to sign with the Brooklyn Nets on a one year deal.
Blatche had been working down in Houston with former NBA coach John Lucas in order to get back into fitness – something he was largely criticized for last season. He is hoping for a fresh start and playing for the Nets might just
be the push he needed to get going in the NBA.
According to March Spears of Yahoo Sports, the Nets are yet to offer a guaranteed contract to Blatche and do have the option of letting him go during training camp. However, it has also been speculated that there is high chance
that he would be given the nod to stick around.
From being a second round pick by the Wizards in 2005, Blatche’s career has seen its up and downs. Getting off to a slow start to his career, Blatche continued to work hard and some might just find it hard to believe that he averaged
16.8 points per game during the 2010-2011 campaign and had held a double figure average for the two seasons before that.
However, Blatche’s fitness had always been a question throughout his career as there was never any consistency in his performances. And being a part of what was regarded as the most unprofessional unit in the NBA, did not do him
any favours. The Wizards have made many roster changes over the summer and are ready to move on.
Brooklyn is the newest team in the NBA and is also looking to start things new. However, Blatche will have to work very hard and prove that he is ready to fit into the Nets system that already has Kris Humphries and Brook Lopez
in the starting line up while Mirza Teletovic and Reggie Evans play as more than capable backups.
