Brooks Koepka hopes a hat-trick of wins at the D+D Real Czech Challenge Open – Golf News
Brooks Koepka has set his sights on making it to the European Tour with three Challenge Tour wins this season, as he enters this week’s D+D Real Czech Challenge Open with two victories already added to his resume this season.
The D+D Real Czech Challenge Open is set to be staged at Golf & Spa Kunetická Hora and is the eighth tournament on the European Challenge Tour’s roster this year.
Last week, Koepka participated in the Fred Olsen Challenge de España and recorded an emphatic 10-stroke victory, which itself was a Challenge Tour record. His other victory came at the Montecchia Golf Open presented by POLAROI.
If he succeeds in adding another title to his tally this year, he will become the sixth player in the history of the Challenge Tour to be promoted to the European Tour without having participated in the qualifying school or through
the Order of Merit.
In addition to that, if he succeeds in his plans, he will become the first American golf player to do so.
“The way I have been playing and my confidence being pretty high, I expect and want to do well this week ,” said Koepka, who is currently €27,618 clear at the top of the 2013 Challenge Tour Rankings. “It seems like a great set-up,
it’s a good field and I’d love to complete the treble here but we will just have to wait and see. I can’t win every week, but I can certainly try.”
Talking to the European Challenge Tour’s official website, he also stated that he likes to travel to different countries to participate in the Challenge Tour events, as it allows him to learn about different cultures, people and
languages.
“I also think playing out here helps you grow massively as a person as well as a golfer. I enjoy coming to all these different countries,” the American added.
François Calmels, the winner of this year’s edition of the Challenge de España, former Ryder Cup star Oliver Wilson and Nick Dougherty have also confirmed to participate in the D+D Real Czech Challenge Open this week.
