Brooks Koepka wins promotion to the European Tour – Golf News
Brooks Koepka became sixth player in the Challenge Tour history to earn three victories and instant promotion to The European Tour after winning the Scottish Hydro Challenge hosted by Macdonald Hotels and Resorts by an emphatic
three-shot  margin.
The American’s recent form has been nothing short of astonishing, as he won the Montecchia Golf Open presented by POLAROID (on 23 under par) and the Fred Olsen Challenge de España (24 under) earlier this season. In addition to
that, he also has four other top-10 finishes recorded to his name so far this season.
Koepka, who will now join his close friend Peter Uihlein on the European Tour, got off to a stunning start on day four, as he carded five birdies against lone bogey on the outward nine to reach the turn in four under.
The back nine of the course witnessed him losing control over his game, as he lost three shots over the first seven holes that he played. However, it did not shatter his confidence, and the 23-year-old birdied each of the last
two holes to finish the tournament way ahead of his rivals on the leaderboard.
Talking to the European Challenge Tour’s official website, he expressed his pleasure in becoming the first American player to record three European Challenge Tour victories in one season.
“It’s really exciting,” said Koepka, who is the first American to win three times in a single Challenge Tour season. “It was nice to get my third win here in Scotland and on my final trip before heading home to take some time off.”
“This is only the beginning, and I’ve done it in barely a year playing professionally. I know it sounds a little bit cocky, but I have high expectations for myself,” he added. “Hopefully I will win on The European Tour next, it
sounds cool saying it. I have always wanted to get out there and play with those guys.”
The overnight co-leaders Steven Tiley and Byeong-hun An, in the meantime, both carded one-over par scores, to finish tied for the second position, along with Sam Walker and Andrea Pavan.
