Brookshire Polo League to merge with Huston Polo Club: Polo Update
In a bid to further enhance the polo activities in the region, Brookshire Polo League (BPL) is going to make a consolidation with the Huston Polo Club. Under the solo supervision of the United State Polo Association (USPA), the newly merged organisation
will start their operations from June 1, besides offering new memberships.
After the amalgamation, the new organisation will start its services under the identity of Huston Polo Club. Pam Mudra will be worked as Executive Director of the new unit while Board of Directors will be comprised of Tim Kelly, Carl Price and Scott Wood.
As a result of merger, the HPC welcomed some 14 new playing members and its numbers have been reached about to sixty.
George Georgiades, the HPC President and No Le Hace, the Sponsor while speaking to the media said that they were energised after getting unification with Brookshire Polo League. They were of the view that they would improve the level of sport by increasing
investment in this regard.
They added, “HPC and BPL have been working closely together over the past few years, and this final step will allow us to continue to grow the sport and offer a better experience to players and fans alike, at a reasonable cost.”
The unification of two major clubs will provide advantages to the sport in the region particularly in the Texas State. Some six or more learning levels will be provided to the members. With the facilities like umpires, marketing and management departments,
the new organisation will get more financial benefits.
In the meantime, the tournaments awarded by the USPA to the respective clubs will be organised as per the schedule. It is pertinent to mention here that the BPL was awarded the US Women’s Open for the current year, 2011 after a twenty-year gap.
Scott Wood, the ERG Sponsor and member of the BPL while speaking to the reports after the announcement stated that the consolidation will be of assistance for every person connected with polo including players, sponsors and members. On the other hand, the
scheduling differences will also be decreases due to emergence of two separate clubs, he added.
Wood further stated, “We’re very pleased to have reached an agreement to bring these two groups together, and I believe that this will be a great success story for polo.”
In his views, everyone has plenty of chances to contest every type of polo according to the season. This process will also increase the number of members in the polo schools which will be registered under different levels including Junior Polo, Interscholastic
Polo, Intercollegiate Polo and other learning stages.
