Broom handle?

Question

I want to make a long handled broom

say 4 or 5 feet handle

easy to carry

so I thought of sawing the handle into 3

any ideas of what to fit on to be

able to s***w it back together ?

and make it usable ?

Along the same lines as Martha Z - Go to a DIY store and buy an extending roller handle (decorating type).  This is the type that twists one way to release the inner pole and once the require length is out you twist the other way to lock - should do the trick :-)

go to a paint store and buy some roller handles.  these s***w together to make a longer handle.  buy as many as you need to get the length you want.

You can purchase handles like you are asking about for far less expense than buying the components to make it yourself.

Take some water pipe and drill two holes through it. Then slide over the handle and drill through it. Use bolts ans wing nuts to fasten the pipe to the handle. You can use a longer piece with two holes on each section to make it more stable. Try brass bolts and wing nuts as they don't rust.
