  1. it means the #of stitches it can do.it is a good choice for a machine.it has the capability of sewing without using the foot pedal.there is a button on the machine that you push to start sewing and push to stop sewing.it has a slow , medium and fast speed with this option.you can use the foot pedal if you like.also it has a needle threader to thread the machine that is easy to use if you make sure the needle is in the uppermost position.and the buttonhloer is the best .i highly recommend it.

  3. It means there are 60 available stitch patterns on the machine.  Most people don't need more than straight stitch, zigzag, triple zigzag, blindhem and stretch blindhem and buttonhole.  

    Do not choose a machine by the number of stitches -- choose a good quality machine that will work well for you and that doesn't intimidate you.
