Question:

Brother leaving for college?

My brother got into USC, we currently live in Annapolis Maryland and we just dropped him off at BWI this morning for him to go all the way to Los Angeles! My Dad passed away in April and I feel so lost without my brother here...I feel like I've lost my Dad and my brother! I literally can't stop crying. I guess I'm scared because I'll have to be more responsible...I'm going to be 17 next month and I'll be a highschool senior too. Does anyone have any advice for coping with this change? Do you get used to them not being around? Hopefully this whole crying and feeling like I'm breaking down thing wont last for too much longer...

  1. Awwww Im kind of in the same situation. My ONLY good good friend left for college this morning and im really sad. Im going to miss her as well.

Im just trying to keep my mind on other things, play with my animals. ETC.

I know probably not much help but alot of people are going to be going through this time right now with school/colleges getting ready to start.

    It will be ok hun.

  2. Everybody needs time to mourn.  It will eventually go away, but of course you will never forget.  After your mourning stage, try to stay positive in life and avoid a downward spiral, which could lead to drug and alcohol abuse when you're older.  Take care.

  3. You need a hug. End of story.

  4. Wow, a Senior your life is going to be so busy.  Take every opportunity that is available to you in this last year of school.  Go to all the games, dances, plays etc.  Keep in close contact with your friends.  If you have time after studying, why don't you look into getting a part time job.  Keep busy.  Sorry about your Dad, that loss is hard at any age.  Good Luck  xox

  5. no it wont last longer, I'm giving you 15-20 days or less. people get used to everything and i think you know this better than I do (from what you experienced with your dad, and i'm sorry btw) but you know what? you're a senior this, you're not your daddys little girl or the lil sister anymore this is you learning to live on your own... and senior years passes so quickly that you can't even remember...all the college aps & fun is going to take so much of your time. then maybe next year you can go to USC with your brother.. and come on, you're not that far away from each other, people go to college overseas and not see their family for many many months. you're lucky, don't cry.
