  1. Just "park" the earth wire using a connector block and leave it available should you ever change the light fitting to another one that requires an earth. Do not cut the wire off !!

  2. DO NOT CUT IT OFF!  If it is in the box, and the fixture has no where for it to go, then just roll it up and tuck it in the box.  If you ever change the fixture to one that needs a ground, then you'll have it.  If the fixture you have now is metalic, then you could still use it wrapping it around a mounting s***w.  That is if you just want to use it.

  3. sleeve the earth and cap it off. You must leave the earth there.Otherwise change the cable for a 2 core.

  4. I would think very seriously about fitting a light fitting without an earth wire? Earth wire's are a safety feature designed and put there to safeguard you when you switch the light on? Go buy another one with an earth wire?

It's that old cleche, Better to be safe than sorry?

  5. Those who tell you ignore grounding are wrong.

It won't hurt you to let the fixture 'float' until something

goes wrong. Then it can get serious.

If your fixture "doesn't need an earth" , then it's

grounded through the strap you bolt it to when you

    install it.

Connect your existing ground wire to that strap.

(Most will have a green grounding s***w.)

  6. Just cut the earth cable right back.

Only metal fittings need an earth connection.

    Edit:

I know the type of light fitting in question. There is a single connector for "L" a single connector for "N" and that's it. There is no spare connector to put the earth wire to. If there was *it would be earthed*.

So, you still think she should leave the earth wire floating around inside? Muppets...
