Broughtons Bandit in lead of the Racing Plus Out On Saturday For Just £1 Handicap at Kempton
The Class 6 Racing Plus Out On Saturday For Just £1 Handicap will be held over two miles on Tuesday, 22nd May. The line-up of eight has just one entry who has raced and won at Kempton during the new season.
The prize money set for the winner is £1,617.
Broughtons Bandit, Kyllachy’s five-year-old bay gelding out of mare, Broughton Bounty, started off the new season by pairing up second scores and then finally claiming the third outing of the season that was at Kempton.
He penetrated the season on 25th January in the Hollow Lane Handicap at Lingfield over a mile and five furlongs. The race was won by Celtic Charlie who had Jemma Marshall onboard and led Broughtons Bandit by a length.
The 5/2 favourite of the race, Sumani, ended sixth on the track of nine.
His first and till yet the last seasonal victory was in the Coors Light Handicap on 20th March at Kempton over two miles. The victory did not come easy for the five-year-old as he escaped through the wire by a very narrow neck’s margin from the
3/1 favourite of the race, Bilidn.
Coming at terms with the third position was Captain Sharpe.
Broughtons Bandit has raced at Kempton twice through his career but it was only recently that he won there. Today he will race through the sixth outing of the season and it makes all the sense that he claims the race today.
He will need to look out for Bengal Tiger, Tagula’s six-year-old chestnut gelding out of mare, Floriana, as he won at Kempton back in 2009 and since then six out of his seven tries were at Kempton. His previous and current seasons were specifically focused
at Kempton.
Bengal Tiger was the 11/8 favourite winner of the Digibet Median Auction Maiden Stakes at Kempton over a mile and four furlongs on 16th September, 2009. He was riding with David Probert and led the runner up, Buckie Boy, by seven lengths.
The best that he has scored there is a third ranking and the last time that he raced there, it resulted in a fourth position.
It is high time that he makes the most out of his experience there.
