Sites like symantec.com, safer-networking.org, etc etc are being redirected back to 127.0.0.1. The hosts file is clean so thats not the problem, the DNS is flushed, and I've even flushed the route tables. Where else could the PC be pulling custom DNS from? Yes this is a spyware problem. I'm fairly confident that the mal-ware is gone. I've run Avira, AVG, and symantec against viruses, and Adaware, Spy-bot, and Windows defender against everything else. I continue to have browser loopback. This is my bosses, bosses, boss's wife's computer. So I can't wipe out the computer and start over. Any ideas?

  1. Check in your web browswer under the connection setting, and then make sure nothing is in the PROXY settings. I've seen malware put this in .......

Also, I just fixed a computer that had a similar problem. I had to uninstall WinXP SP3 and roll back to SP2 to get it to work.

Also, if you are using ZoneAlarm, this is a known problem. If you are, go to their website and get the latest "fix."

  2. Try SUPERAntiSpyware: it gets rid of most things
