Brown Recluse???

Ok so i was sitting here on my computer and saw a spider climbing up my wall. it was over the size of a quarter with its legs spread. it has a black color dark bottom and its brown with long legs. i live in eastern nc close to raleigh in the country..wilson to be exact. they say they dont live in nc but i know ppl who have been bitten. it kinda looks like a violin on its back but its too light and small to tell..FANGS ARE HUGE!

what is it??

  3. Hi, if the violin is near the head not the butt, it posibly could be. I've never actually seen one other than photos, but you should search it on the web due to the fact that spiders can look different depending on the region they're in, even though they're the same species. When in doubt, check it out! They are NOT something to overlook! Hopefully someone can tell you for sure.

It is hard to say what it is, but it does not sound like a brown recluse.  From what I understand, recluses are also not climbers.  They like to hide under rotting logs in the wild, and tend to prefer cardboard and clothing that is stored openly and on the floor in undisturbed closets.  Also, brown recluses have rather small fangs.  You would not be able to see them with the naked eye.  The violin will also be fairly easy to see from a couple of feet away.  It is a very dark redish-brown against a drab red carapace.  There are also no black on the spider.
