Brown discharge one week before my period is due...am I pregnant?

My husband and I have been TTC for about 3 months now. I have been off the pill since May and I have had two regular periods. The past two days I have been having brown, slimy, discharge (gross I know) but I'm not due for my period till next Friday. I had the same thing with my first child but not until I was 9 weeks pregnant. Could I be having implantation bleeding this early? I have also been slightly cramping.

That sounds like old blood.  The older the blood, the darker it is.  

Its the beginning of your period.  You might just be a week early or getting ready to have a doozie.  

Ever notice how stupid most of the males answer a question like this.  I think its funny. lolol

I have brown discharge before my period every month. It is just your period "getting ready" to start. You have probably never had this before because you have been on the pill and it makes for shorter lighter periods. Now that you are off this pill your periods will be different. Brown spotting/discharge before your period is just your bodies way of getting rid of old blood. Many women mistake this for implantation bleeding and get excited. On the other hand, many people mistake implantation bleeding for your period getting ready to start. So in short, no way to know until you test positive on a test and/or miss your period.
