Brown gunk on my metal electric stove??

Theres this brown stuff on my stainless steel stove around the elements. I have used a bunch of kitchen cleaner and chrome/ metal cleaner but nothing works. Any suggestions??

it's not the cleaner as much as what you're using to scrub it with.

this will work:

straight "mean green" or "greased lightnin'" and a green nylon scrubber. spray the cleaner on and leave it for about 30 minutes then scrub it! the nylon won't scratch the stainless steel.
