Brown house snake?

range of the brown snake is s. maine, s. quebec, and s. minnesota, south to lower florida keys, and through texas and mexico to n. honduras. they are vary commen. I find them under flat rocks, logs, or trash. usually near water or damp places. they get 10-20" long. never heard them called brown house snakes. but only brown snake i know in north america.

they feed on earthworms, slugs, and snails.
