Brown line in molar, is it a cavity?

i went to the dentis recently, and he said i had one cavity. Later that day i found a brown line on my molar, and it wasnt the tooth that has the cavity.

  1. its probably either staining or decay..

    most likely staining if he didnt say anything about it :)


  2. It is a stain. The dentist or hygienist should have got rid of it for you by using the tool with the hook to scratch it off. Sometimes if it is a bad stain they do the best they can, but they cannot get all of it off.

  3. It is most likely stain. As a hygienist I can tell you that the grooves in your teeth are easily stained and hard to clean out. The groove might be smaller than a tooth brush bristle and therefore not cleanable. So if the Dr. checked it you should be OK.I've got stain in my grooves, no biggie
