Brown rice calories???

i am confused with this i made 1c rice today i measured it out cooked it was 3 cups made..on the box it said 1/4 cup is 170cals and 35g carbs is that 1/4 cooked or uncooked rice? so itd be like 3/4cups cooked is 170cals? or what

  1. Hi Joe,

    Calories and carbs should not change too much after cooking.

    But the good thing about brown rice is that the fiber and the unprocessed complex carbs burn more slowly and also have micronutrients not found in processed white rice.

    Nutty chewy taste takes getting used to, but well worth it!

  3. Yes, uncooked it's 170 cals and cooked it will be 170 cals also. The cal doesn't change when you add water, but 1/4 uncooked is about... I think about 3/4-1 cup cooked.
