There's only a small brown patch on one tooth, you can't really see it unless you look really close it's hidden by my bracket. I have braces and getting them off in a couple of months. Any idea what is it?

  1. it could possibly be a cavity if not a scrap of food. try to floss more often if you dont already.

  2. The brown spots on the teeth are most probably stains or tartar. The stains could have come from food, cigarettes, caffeine or many other sources. First try brushing regularly for a few months, also switch toothpastes. If this does not work then you'll probably have to go to a dentist to get the stains off.

A dentist could polish your teeth. If the stains are light then the dentist will use a bristle cup with a particular paste and rub your teeth with a circular motion, the brush could be mechanized. He could also bleach your teeth by oxidizing it. This should not be done often as it could make the teeth brittle. If the stains are dark then he could apply a thin coat of ceramic to the teeth, this technique is called bonding. If the teeth are beyond repair then the dentist will slowly erode a significant portion of the teeth with a fast rotating instrument. He will then fill the gap with a ceramic crown.

  3. this sounds like a bit of enamel that has softened, and taken in some staining before rehardening. at work, we call these "when a hole is not a hole" if you keep up the hygiene it should stay stable. but it does have the possibility to turn into a cavity. Very easy to correct with a small composite resin filling though. dont panic

  4. Eww ha ha ya that's built up plaque most likely. brush ur teeth

  5. I had braces for a long time when I was younger.  It's probably a stain on the glue/cement they use.  If you drink a lot of coke or tea, you will get those spots.  Most likely, it will not be there when you get them taken off.  If it is, you can use a whitening system after you get your braces off...which you will probably want to do anyway.  Congrats!  You're almost there!  Be sure the first thing you eat after getting them off is a big burger or something.  It feels amazing!!  LOL!

  6. do you smoke?

  7. its probably plaque. . . or if you are using Crest blue mouthwash stop using it because it did that to my teeth.. you can have the dentist scrape the plaque off but you should start brushing your teeth more often and maybe use a toothpaste that protects the enamal.
