  1. No, chocolate is a vital ingredient for brownies.

    1/2 cup butter

    1 cup white sugar

    2 eggs

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder

    1/2 cup all-purpose flour

    1/4 teaspoon salt

    1/4 teaspoon baking powder

    3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

    1 tablespoon honey

    1 teaspoon vanilla extract

    1 cup confectioners' sugar

    DIRECTIONS

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease and flour an 8 inch square pan.

In a large saucepan, melt 1/2 cup butter. Remove from heat, and stir in sugar, eggs, and 1 teaspoon vanilla. Beat in 1/3 cup cocoa, 1/2 cup flour, salt, and baking powder. Spread batter into prepared pan.

Bake in preheated oven for 25 to 30 minutes. Do not overcook.

To Make Frosting: Combine 3 tablespoons butter, 3 tablespoons cocoa, 1 tablespoon honey, 1 teaspoon vanilla, and 1 cup confectioners' sugar. Frost brownies while they are still warm.

  3. Brownies without chocolate is like...pastries without sugar. Might as well not make them until you have a good quality and amount of chocolate to do it justice.

  4. umm brownies are brownies because they have chocolate in them

thats like taking the sugar out of a sugar cookie, then itd just be a cracker

  5. the whole point of brownies is for the chocolatey taste...

  6. There is a non-chocolate version of the brownie called a blondie.  You probably can find a recipe on the Food Network web site.

  7. No it won't work. They will be like bread-y cookies. And won't taste good!

    Directions

Preheat oven to 175 °C/350 °F. Grease a 9-inch square baking pan and set aside.

In a small bowl, stir or whisk together the flour, baking powder and salt.

In a large bowl, cream the butter, sugar and brown sugar. Add eggs and vanilla extract, beating well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in nuts.

Spread batter evenly in prepared pan. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes or until tester inserted in center comes out "almost" clean. Let cool completely on a wire rack. Run a sharp knife around edges of pan, then cut into 16 squares.

that recipe sounds pretty good to me. Just give it a try. and blondies are brownies without chocolate.
