Browns' quarterback Colt McCoy ruled out for next game – NFL News
Cleveland Browns quarterback Colt McCoy is out of their next game against Arizona Cardinals this Sunday due to the concussion he had suffered in the game against the Pittsburgh Steelers last week.
McCoy did not join Colt’s squad for practice on Wednesday and Thursday and the team coach Pat Shurmur ruled him out for the next game.
McCoy who had suffered concussion as a result of a helmet-to-face mask hit with Steelers linebacker James Harrison said that he was still experiencing headaches and therefore was unlikely for Browns next game.
Colt McCoy has been sent home for the third time this week for feeling unfit to play following his head injury. He also faces prospects of being released by the Browns especially if he does not recover from the injury this season.
However, the team management has not made any comment that should suggest of their considering of such an option. The team general manager Tom Heckert said that they have not taken any decision on any of their players including
Colt McCoy.
"We'll have to really, really look at it after the season," Heckert said. "He's done some good things. But the whole evaluation will be done afterward. We just haven't sat down and broken down every play. There's no decisions being
made."
Browns coach Pat Shurmur meanwhile said that McCoy would be replaced by Seneca Wallace. Wallace took part in practice on Wednesday and apparently looked ready to start for the Browns on the weekend.
"Seneca's taken all the reps," Shurmur said before Thursday's practice. "And as the days go by and Colt hasn't practiced, it's two plus two.
Wallace has played for the Browns in three games this season, replacing McCoy for about a couple of times and playing one more game. This will be his fourth chance with the Browns. He expected to be Browns starter in more games
this season if McCoy remains absent. The Browns have three more games to go before closing of this regular season.
Cleveland Browns (4-9) in the American Football Conference (AFC) south division are playing Arizona Cardinals in Arizona this Sunday.
The team is a subject of an inquiry being conducted by the National Football League (NFL) and NFL Players Association (NFLPA) over their handling of Colt McCoy’s injury.
