Question:

Browser Hijack Antivirus XP 2008?

Recently got the "Antivirus Xp 2008" malware program. I removed the desktop problem and pop ups, but the browser hijack still remains in place. I have searched all over and done many different methods to remove it, none have worked. Basically when I click on a link in the search results of google, it redirects to some junk website. I have tried using the Registry Editor, Hijack This, among many other solutions, and all have failed. It only does this on IE7, not on Firefox. How can I remove the browser hijack?

  1. 1/ Check what is loading on your system, type in msconfig, and check start up settings, make sure you don't have a down-loader there, and unchecked the ones you don't want to have running when start up.

2/ Since the IE7 is corrupted it can not be repaired, because is part of the operating system, and will not reinstall.

3/ Do a system restore 2 weeks before this started to occur.

4/ Don't back up your system because there is a corruption

5/ Clean out all your temp files, and programs

6/ A system go back will normally work

Your problem has occured a few times to me, Try some of these above, and Good Luck

  2. Download, run, update and do a full scan with kaspersky Internet Security.

  3. I had that problem also the past few days. I searched online and it was confusing, people posting their Hijack This! logs and there never being a real solution.

After running all the free anti-spyware programs I could find for free (AVG, Superantispyware, Ad-aware) it still wasn't working out. I used the Mozilla browser and in the "Clear Saved Data" I just checked "Cookies" and I didn't have the browser hijack anymore, so you might want to clear your IE cookies.

  4. :O oh dude, I had the same problem. I searched the entire internet trying to get rid of it; all of the c**p was so complicated until I found out that there's this thing that can get rid of it without any trouble.

I swear it worked  for me; and it's free(sorta, it's not a trial but you don't have to pay to make it do what it's suppose to do.

It's called Malwarebytes or something. It got rid of it and everything.

  5. use manual removal instructions
