Bruce Arena: http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Los-Angeles-Galaxy-c39818-Manchester City match will be important from fans’ perspective
Major League Soccer franchise Los Angeles Galaxy are set to take on Barclays Premier League champions, Manchester City, on Saturday, July 23 at The Home Depot Center.
Much like last week’s fixture against Real Madrid, a complete sell-out is expected at the HDC.
Los Blancos ran through the MLS club with a 4-1 score line at LA Memorial Coliseum. Despite the result, Coach Bruce Arena is least bit concerned about the results in friendly games the international friendly. His main concern is to play as many players against
the premier league powerhouse as possible.
“The purpose of these exhibitions is to bring in these great teams and players and let both teams enjoy the match,” Arena said. “For me, the result is not that critical.”
Further adding to his comments, he said, “We’re going to try and play as many players for 45 minutes as we can. We’ve been in a difficult schedule over the last three or four weeks. It’s important for us to keep our players healthy.”
However, the manager singled out one player who will certainly go the distance against the premier league representatives. http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/David-Beckham-c10432, the perennial Red Devils favourite, will certainly be on pitch for the entire duration of the game.
The English import is suffering from a backbone ailment but despite the injury, he lasted 64 minutes in the last match against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Columbus-Crew-c38850 at the Home Depot.
The player lined up 16 corner-kicks in the 1-0 win over the Crew. Despite the midweek fixture and injury, Arena plans on starting him against Manchester United.
“David always plays,” Arena said. “He’ll be fine. He’s always ready to play.”
The main reason behind the embarrassing defeat at the hands of Real Madrid was the busy schedule. Prior to the LA Memorial outing, Los Galacticos had visited http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Seattle-Sounders-FC-c40474 in Washington for a MLS tie at CenturyLink Field.
Although the team had another match this Wednesday, it did not involve the gruelling travel.
The game is more important for the spectators than it is for the team, Arena believes.
“Manchester City is an outstanding team,” Arena said. “We’ve followed them through the course of the last couple of years. It will be an exciting match for our fans.”
The Citizens have played spectacular games in the last two seasons. After a barren run of 35 years, the team finally secured the FA Cup in the season ended. In addition, the team also managed to win a 2011/12 UEFA Champions League berth after finishing third
in the 2010/11 EPL season.
