Bruce Arians says CB Vontae Davis to start versus Detroit Lions, Chuck Pagano stays OK – NFL News
Indianapolis Colts coach Bruce Arians has said that the team will not take safety Tom Zbikowski to Detroit for road game versus the Lions this Sunday (Dec. 02).
Bruce said Tom has injured right knee but he did not elaborate if it was not as serious as Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) or Medial Cruciate Ligament (MCL) injuries. Except for the information about ousting of the player from the next game, the coach did
not elaborate the current recovery status of the player.
Meanwhile, the coach also said that cornerback Vontae Davis is expected back with the team for this Sunday’s game. Davis had also suffered a knee injury and consequently missed four games of the season.
Apart from these changes, the rest of the squad appears to be heading into the game. The Colts with win over the Lions can help themselves further consolidate their lead in the American Football Conference (AFC) South from present level of 7-4. It will also
cement their playoff chance.
The team is just behind the Houston Texans who stay atop AFC South with a decisive lead of 10-1 points. They are facing the Tennessee Titans this Sunday and if manage a win then will be through to the playoffs.
Meanwhile, Bruce has given further encouraging news on recovery front of ill coach Chuck Pagano. He said Pagano will have fourth and last round of chemotherapy this week and the doctors are expected to set a timeframe for his recovery then.
Although all rounds of chemotherapy have been successful, Arians said the doctors will have another count of white blood cells in his body after the final round to make sure he is hundred percent before setting him on the course of final recovery and rehab.
The coach has not speculated any timeline for Pagano’s return, although he said a couple of days earlier that he was waiting for him to surrender the head coaching responsibilities for him. Bruce has been performing the main coaching job on an interim basis
and the position is expected to be given back to Pagano once he formally notifies his return to the job.
