Bruce Chen impresses as Kansas City Royals defeat Detroit Tigers 3-1 – Part 2
Bruce Chen was the definitely the player who helped the Kansas City Royals defeat the Detroit Tigers 3-1 on Saturday, April 9. He had an impressive innings as he allowed only three hits during six innings which speaks on its own of the kind of pitching he
delivered. It almost seemed like a one man show but credit has to be given to the other players on the team who performed just as well and complimented Chen.
One good point for the Tigers was the performance of their pitcher Phil Coke. This was his first start with the Tigers and he managed to do well as he struck-out seven and only allowed a mere two runs off three hits. It was an impressive showing by Coke
for the Tigers. The team management will be pleased at the level of his pitching and his decent start with the team.
Overall, the Tigers did struggle throughout the game against the brilliant pitching of Chen. The Royals will be impressed by his performance and will probably look to put him in the pitching rotation for more starts this season.
The Tigers will not be too worried, as it is still early in the season and their line-ups are still settling into their respective positions. However, Detroit does very well understand that they will be looking to come together as a team as early as possible
to put a dominant mark into the regular season.
Kansas City will be looking to take the three game series victory against the Tigers. Detroit will not roll over in the third and final match of the series to be played on Sunday. The Royals will be looking into their pitching depth as they try to tackle
the Tigers in the third and final game of the series.
Bruce Chen showed off his tremendous pitching skills as kept the Tigers’ offence guessing. The Royals are full of talent and just need some positivity and confidence to ensure a strong regular season for the team. Wins like the one against strong teams like
the Tigers will build the confidence levels of the Royals and give them some momentum.
It will be interesting to see how the Royals come out against the Tigers in the third and final game of the series. The Tigers will be looking to improve their performance and come out aggressively against the Royals early on. However, the Royals have now
seen the weakness of the Tigers’ batting line-up and will try to fluster the offence once again to take a series victory.
Both teams are showing signs of decent performances early in the regular season. They will have to keep up their momentum if they want to secure a place in the post-season.
