Bruce Chen shows confidence in Kansas City Royals chances for next year – MLB News
The Kansas City Royals’ brilliant pitcher Bruce Chen, who has just won the club’s Best Pitcher Award for 2011, is showing great confidence over the team and is saying that the next season will certainly bring some good results.
Chen was talking to the media and passed comments on the Royals’ preparation for the upcoming season with huge optimism.
Chen said, “We have a very good offense, we have a very good defense, and we have a very good, strong bullpen. We were a little behind was starting rotation.”
This was the first detailed and thorough interview and media interaction of Chen after he suffered an injury 2005 which nearly cost him his professional career. However, to recover from that elbow injury made him a true player as later he started off with
a big energy and made a drastic comeback which was appreciated by many.
He not only signed with the Royals in an utter belief of performing well but to achieve honours as well. The sheer belief and passion is the main reason why he achieved booming stats of 25-21 with 4.28 ERA in total 75 and finished 12-8 with a 3.77 ERA in
2011 alone and won the franchise’s Best Pitcher Award.
Earlier, when some MLB teams including the Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins showed their interest to sign him, Chen and his agent declined the offer and remained committed with the Royals.
Now, some reports are coming in the media that Bruce Chen is preparing to spend this winter in the Arizona with Royals’ minor league affiliates. The time he will spend in Arizona will certainly help him play a more aggressive game in the future. The Royals
will be hoping for great things for Chen, as they are desperate for a successful regular season and a possible spot in the post-season.
Once Spring Training begins, the Royals will be looking to put in a good performance and build some much needed confidence in the team. It will be interesting to see how Chen performs for the Royals and what type of an impact he will make for them.
