I have watched some Segal Aikido and some demos of Bruce Lee fighting. These guys - along with Chuck Norris - look like they had what it would take to be a UFC champion. Lee likely had the stamina to go 15 rounds let alone 3 or 5! Segal looks like he could through a guy around like a rag-doll. How would either of these guys fair against Royce Gracie or BJ Penn or GSP or Silva etc?

  1. bruce lee woulda gotten rocked.  or kicked out.  he is a master of self defence.  He cant use 50% of the **** he did in a comp with RULES.......

    the others woulda lost too

  2. I agree with the rest the only one who is actuallt built for mma would be bruce lee. his sambo was excellent and has become a big style to learn from just like jujit-su

  3. In my opinion, NO.

Simply because the UFC is prize fighting and not self-defense.  And Bruce Lee, Steven Segal, and Chuck Norris were all trained to win street fights with or against knives, weapons, & multiple opponents; in street clothes; in day or night, in rain, snow, mud, alleys, with or without witnesses.

Already the UFC has banned techniques that would be utilized in the street such as Bruce Lee's lightening fast eye jabs; or Steven Seagal's small joint locks; or Chuck Norris's spear hands to the throat or eyes.  You can't use those techniques in the ring anymore.

In the late 1960s Mohammed Ali stated that if he fought Bruce Lee in the ring, Ali would win; and if he fought Bruce Lee in the Street, Lee would win.

So in a UFC prize fighting environment, Royce Gracie, BJ Penn, Silva etc. would most likely win.  In the street they would most likely lose.

  4. They would get stomped.  Most of their training is dedicated to striking. As soon as they would get into a clinch, they'd be done for lack of a grappling game.  Of course they would have a punchers chance against a Gracie, but if they tied up at all, game over!  Don't get me wrong, I love all the guys you listed, but in an MMA fight they wouldn't have what it takes.

  5. Bruce Lee- well, of course he'd have been successful. I think Norris was tough enough, and would have picked up some wins. Segal, not so much, because Aikido is really a non-competitive art, and Segal uses camera angles and trick photography to make himself look better than he actually is.

  6. Bruce Lee would be the only one because the others mostly specialize in one style and because Bruce Lee is Bruce Lee.

  7. lee would have done good up to welter/light any higher and the ground game would be 50/50 higher and he would look ordinary   we are talking about in a ring with rules and gloves ..outside  and its a different ball game as for seagal and norris well they are stand up types just no good on the ground in a ring

  8. Given the opportunity to train for it Chuck Norris likely would have done well. He was already a pretty good standup fighter and since he currently has a brown belt (At least, might have earned his black by now, not sure) in Brazillian Jiu-Jitsu he obviously understands the need for a ground game. Obviously combat sports have evolved since his day, but I think Norris and Lee would likely have done just fine in their respective weight classes.

Segal on the other hand would be murdered in short order as was demonstrated by "Judo" Gene Lebell who choked him unconcious in seconds.

  9. Bruce Lee would be the only one to compete...along with his other Martial Arts, he did practice and learn judo as well from a close friend...i think his all around knowledge would give him the best chance...would he win??? i dont know...i have a feeling that his striking would be as good as anyone now in the lightweight div. so maybe...

  10. Bruce Lee: He seems would've done well in the featherweight division (135lbs).

Steven Seagal: How many Aikido masters are there in MMA? none, Aikido is not suited for this kind of competition.

Chuck Norris: He did very well in full contact karate, but when he was young he did not know grappling, so he wouldn't have done well in MMA.

  11. if the ufc had been around during lee's day, you bet your belt he'd have been studying it.  he was all about being eclectic.  that was the whole point of jeet kune do.  my money's with lee.

  12. You must be young guy!

    No comparison with Bruce Lee.

The others were stagnant in their styles, but any hard trained focus fighter can defeat any, who fight only for show.

  13. Bruce Lee is the father of mixed martial arts (MMA). Bruce Lee would certainly be the strongest fighter in his class, and fastest in any class, period. However, Bruce Lee is a street fighter. By that, I mean he is specializes in combat, where anything goes. He once said that a finger jab to the eyes is the most valuable asset a martial artist possess. In UFC, that's not allowed. So you see, Bruce Lee did not participate in any fights because of the rigidness. His whole philosophy in Jeet Kune Do stems from no limitations, no rules. And, as a personal statement, if any one happens to punch Bruce Lee, he would straight up kill you! Dana White, president of UFC said, "It's a little tough for the traditional martial artists to swallow [Jeet Kune Do], because one system doesn't do it. You've got to cross-train in many different systems. Actually, the father of mixed martial arts, if you will, was Bruce Lee. If you look at the way Bruce Lee trained, the way he fought, and many of the things he wrote, he said the perfect style was no style. You take a little something from everything. You take the good things from every different discipline, use what works, and you throw the rest away."

Steven Segal is just too out of shape to be a real fighter, past or present. He is an actor who happens to be a martial artists, and not the duality, like the Little Dragon, who was 5'7 by the way. Segal would get annihilated with his sub-par aikido techniques.

Chuck Norris, who trained with Bruce, and was a student of his in the late 60s and early 70s, would do very well. Mastering Karate, Judo, and some Muay Thai, as well as jujitsu, could certainly be one of the elite fighters considering his excellent grappling ability. However, one must take note that UFC is mixed martial arts, and not true martial arts. In the real world, these MMA boys don't stand a chance. Against Jackie Chan, Jet Li, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Dolph Lundgren, anybody. No disrespect intended.

  14. No but John Wayne may have been

  15. I think Chuck Norris would have been a great fighter. I know he didn't know grappling, but if you think he wouldn't have adapted to it I think you'd have been mistaken. I know about the legend Bruce Lee and I really LOVE his movies, but he wasn't into competitions so he would have been a trainer as he was a mixed martial arts (modern) pioneer. As for Steven Segal, once again I LOVE his movies also and he wasn't in any competition that I know of either. I have the greatest respect for all of them because the movie masters figured out how to make more money than even the BEST MMA fighters so far. They are good on film, but they would be crazy to even get into street fights as it would take away from their mystique if they would ever lose. Thus effecting the money that they make.

  16. which demo(s) of bruce lee fighting did you see.

I'm only aware of one sparring video of bruce lee in existance.  If there are more I would love to see them.

and I mean SPARRING not movie stuff.

  17. Bruce would have done well in feather weight. All others would be destroyed
