Bruce Martin helps Auckland bounce back in match against Northern Districts
Auckland ended Day 2 of their Plunket Shield match against the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Northern-Districts-c825 with a 48-run second innings lead with seven wickets still remaining. The match is being played at Colin Maiden Park, Auckland.
Northern Districts started the day with two wickets down for 113 runs. However, the visitors didn’t have a very good day as they were bowled out for 213 after adding just 100 runs at the expense of eight wickets.
The wicket in Auckland has been good for the bowlers with a lot of pace and bounce in it. Considering the pitch conditions, a 77-run first innings lead for the visitors may prove to be decisive.
The start of the day was dismal for Northern Districts as they lost their overnight unbeaten batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Brad-Wilson-c1187 without adding any run in the day. Wilson was out after scoring 56 runs.
His wicket brought http://www.senore.com/Cricket/James-Marshall-c1650 in the middle. The brothers gave a solid half-century stand to their team for the fourth wicket. Hamish scored a brilliant 57 before he was dismissed.
The younger brother and captain of the Northern Districts, James, failed to carry on with the start he got and was out for 27 runs. Wicketkeeper-batsman http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Peter-McGlashan-c2178 scored 15 runs, but the lower middle-order collapsed.
Bruce Martin was in devastating form as he took seven wickets for the hosts. He took both the wickets that fell yesterday and continued to trouble the batsmen today with his accurate bowling.
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Greg-Todd-c1510 opened the innings for Auckland. The team expected a good start, but Todd failed for the second time in the match after being dismissed for just 10 runs.

failed to do so.
