Former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429 manager Bruce Rioch believes Arsene Wenger doesn’t need to go anywhere and that he is the ideal man to manage the Gunners.
Over the course of the last couple of months, a number of critics have started to hit out at Arsene Wenger and have labelled the manager to be the reason for Arsenal performing as poorly as they are.
However, with all the fingers pointing at Wenger, Rioch has come forth and claimed that it would be close to impossible to replace Wenger at the Emirates and that the manager is the only person in the world, who can help the Gunners.
Rioch, when talking about Wenger and the current situation that the North London club find themselves in is quoted to have said: “I am not one that is campaigning for Arsene to leave, that’s for sure”
“I think that he has done a magnificent http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684. He hasn’t got worse as a manager through the years. He has got better, he is more experienced.”
“I don’t think it is time for him to go. Who is going to replace him and where are the resources? Would a replacement have the resources to do more than he has in terms of finance? To replace him you really would have to find a damned good manager.”
At the same time Rioch believes that Wenger hasn’t done much wrong and the only problem that has occurred, is with everyone trying to compare the current Arsenal squad with the one that went on to win the doubles in the past. Rioch believes that is rather
unfair to the current team and results in them suffering, since they fail to compare to those teams.
“It is evident that the team they have at the moment is clearly not as good as the double-winning teams of the past but those teams were absolutely exceptional and the current team are suffering in comparison.”
Nonetheless, despite Rioch showing support for Wenger, it is safe to say that the Frenchman needs to change his tactics up a little bit. The manager needs to be a little more flexible and he needs to start spending big in the transfer window, in order to
bring in the quality that would help the team overcome their more experienced opponents.
At the same time, Rioch has a valid point, when he claims that no one can replace Wenger at the Emirates. The success that Wenger has brought to the club and the way he has changed the teams mentality and style of play is remarkable. For Wenger to be replaced,
the Gunners would have to find a manager who has the same philosophies and can enhance the way Wenger has developed the team.
As it stands, there is no such manager, but should such a manager be discovered in the near future, Wenger would most probably step down and ask him to take over at the Emirates himself.
