  1. In my opinion (and this will probably get me a thumbs down) I'd have to say Reggie White because of his MVP performance in Superbowl XXXI (Desmond Howard got the award though). He was just throwing those guys right out of the way with one arm. I'm not being bias with my answer either; I'm not a fan of either. I've seen Bruce Smith play in more games due to his conference, but Reggies performance that game is always in my mind.

  2. Bruce Smith. Their stats are pretty even. Bruce played in the superior AFC.He went to the NFC when he was awaiting his social security check.

  3. Reggie White the Minister of Defense. Look at the stats. Plus 2 consecutive sacks in a SUPER BOWL!

  4. I hate when people post stats or go by superbowl wins!  I've been fortunate enough to watch both of them play and they were both great players.  Just like Marino and Elway they were both the best at there position and if you had either of them you were doing good.  It comes down to personal opinions you had the best DE in the NFC or the best DE in the AFC. Six of one or a half dozen of the other it's the same darn thing.   YOU CAN NOT GO BY STATS ALONE!

Skimmer....  You can't answer it and Bruce Smith and Reggie White can't answer it.  There is no definition of "The best defensive end of all time"  There is a lot more to football than stats.  Maybe if you played you might know that.  Two different teams, two different defensive schemes, two totally different people.  We're not talking about racing or running where they compete directly against each other.  Sure we can "start" with stats but Bruce Smith lost every Super Bowl he played in does that make him less greater? NO!!  Does that make you an idiot?  YES!!  I happen to like the AFC so my answer is Bruce Smith.  Does that make me right?

  5. Reggie White...Bruce Smith was a whiney wash woman compared to Reg-gie!

h**l Strahan is better than Bruce Smith

  6. Reggie White definitely

They both came in to the NFL in 1985, and when Reggie retired in 1998 and came back to the league for one last season before his death in 2000 he had 198 sacks (most in the NFL) while Bruce stayed around until 2003 without retiring for 2 seasons just to break White's record and retired with 200 career sacks.  Now with White playing for 14 seasons and Smith playing for 18 seasons and has two more sacks and 12 more tackles than White I'd definitely choose White because he was more consistent every season

White also played in the USFL for 2 seasons he racked up 23.5 sacks, 192 tackles, and seven forced fumbles in those two seasons, now if you add those to his NFL stats here is the breakdown

    Reggie White:

    Sacks: 221.5

    Tackles: 1304

    INT: 3

    Bruce Smith:

    Sacks: 200

    Tackles: 1224

    INT: 2

    Reggie White

  7. I don't know who was better, but both got schooled big time  by Erik Williams of the Cowboys. Reggie White probably gets a slight edge over Smith but Bruce Smith was a much classier person. So my final answer would be Bruce Smith. Reggie White was a cry baby. See the Erik Williams rule.

  8. reggie white hands down, the guy was just flat out dominent even against double teams

  9. Reggie White: 198 sacks, 3 ints, 19 fumble recoveries, 13 pro bowl selections, 2x NFL Defensive Player of the Year. In 1999, he was ranked number 22 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players, making him the highest-ranked player to have played for the Eagles and the third-ranking Packer behind Don Hutson and Ray Nitschke.

Bruce Smith: 200 sacks, 2 ints, 15 fumble recoveries, 11 pro bowl selections, 2x NFL Defensive Player of the Year. In 1999, he was ranked number 58 on The Sporting News' list of the 100 Greatest Football Players.

I guess if you go by stats alone Reggie would win out by the slimmest of margins

Money!! You have to at least use stats as a starting point! Personnal opinion? If you havent met them or watched every game they played in then you cant make that decision. He's asking the question to get answers(something you didnt even give). Are you telling me the best racer is not the one with the most wins? The fastest runner is not the one with the fastest time but the one with the best form? He asked the question and educated people use stats to help come to an educated answer. Because giving answer based on your opinion is uneducated. He's not going to chisel this in stone, by the way!! Thats like saying Tony Romo is the best quarterback because he's cute! Stupid!

According to Money we should just stop asking questions like this. And no Money you are not wrong for picking Bruce. That is your opinion and I believe thats what the questioner was asking for. Thats the whole reason for "debating". Oh and by the way I played football and that is not opinion but I have no stats to prove it to you. But what is stupid and wrong is the name calling. Idiot?

  10. Reggie White no doubt about it!

Not only is he a great player he is a great person that loved his family.  I went to school with him.

  11. dont know any of them
