I am a big fan of bruce lee and i am studying judo at the moment. I'm intrested in following his physical training routines and i would like to have a defined body like his but this is my question, Is it ok to have a strong, fast, defined body like bruce when im involved in judo. I mean is it right being a judoka with muscle for a body?

  1. For Judo you need technique, not strength.I was hopeless at most sports except Judo.My body was nothing like Bruce Lees.

  2. Any type of body can learn judo because judo was invented for small people to take down people bigger than them

  3. Lycan sounds okay but speaks from no experience by the look of it.

Anyone of any shape can enjoy judo sure, but the serious competitors all have to make weight in their separate weight divisions. Just like boxers, wrestlers and weight lifters the lighter divisions cannot afford to have any fat or even excess muslce on them.

So in the lighter divisions they all have bruce lee type physiques. At the highest levels they are very cut, very strong, very fit and very fast.

    Go onto youtube and look

  4. yes youll last longer if youre in a fight. like if you go against a fat bloke you will still have more energy than him when he runs out of it

  5. You don't need muscle for judo.

  6. For Judo, you shouldn't need any one body type. If you are already an ektomorph you will only benefit by adding muscle. If you are an endomorph then you may realize that trimming down will force you to improve your technique having less mass to through behind your moves.

If you are a mesomorph, chances are you will benefit with the increased muscle strength.

Bruce Lee trained to be proficient in many styles. Wing Chun was what he was trained for but he loved all styles.
