Bruins’ captain Zdeno Chara plays an important role as Boston Bruins make it into the Conference Finals
Without any doubt, in every game Boston Bruins’ captain, Zdeno Chara, poses immense threat to the opposition. Teams tend to especially put a man on Chara to mark him right from the beginning of the game.
When the semi-final series between Philadelphia Flyers and Boston Bruins began, Chara was surely thought of being an important player for Bruins who could be the game winning man.
Chara was certainly one of the men who did the job if not doing it all by himself. Everybody’s eyes were on him and he undoubtedly did an excellent job during the game as Bruins won 5-1. This effectively puts Flyers in the Conference Finals after a very
long time.
Last time out, Flyers managed to make its way back into the series. It was down 3-0 and managed to win 4-3 in the end to become only the third team in the National Hockey League to come back from a 3-0 deficit to win the game.
However, when the fourth game started some speculated there was a chance that Flyers would come up with some sort of resistance.
However, this proved to be wrong as Bruins successfully scored four goals in the final period to seal the game for good. Guess who was in the middle of all of this?
Yes, Captain Chara was playing the important role right in the mix even though he couldn’t score that night.
Chara playing around 27 minutes of the game during which he was outstanding to say the least. He was absolutely superb in defence as he came up with three blocks and very threatening during Bruins power-play. He also helped a great deal in keeping Flyers
quite on three power-plays.
During Bruins’ power-play advantage, he opened up considerable space for his teammate that resulted in Milan Lucic finally scoring to move ahead in a game that was level on 1-1 as the final period kicked off.
After the game, when talking to Chara over the fact that Bruins made it into the Conference Finals for the first time since 1992, he was ecstatic at the occasion.
He said that the team would continue to concentrate and keep focus as Bruins face Tampa Bay Lightning in the Conference Finals.
