Question:

Bruised ligament in mouth PLZ HELP?

I had sore points along my gumline from brushing too hard, went to the dentist and he told me how to treat it. I recently had a root canal and know that symptoms of a dying nerve include pain when biting down. Over the weekend I kept chomping on my very back tooth, which had a particularly sore gumline, trying to make sure it didn't hurt when I bit down. It became tender and then painful. Went to the dentist Mon. He said that I probably bruised a ligament chomping down on it so hard and so much. He gave me antibiotics just in case (tho he x-rayed and probed and said it was fine) and told me to take it easy on that tooth and a few things I can do. Well.. it started feeling a LITTLE better, now the pain is so bad I want to rip it out. I accidently bit down on it, and then had a bit of frozen yogurt. I dont know which made it hurt but its been 3 hours and its throbbing. Does this sound like another dying nerve, or can a bruised ligment hurt THIS much? Scale 1-10 this is an 11 pain.

Thnx.

  1. Sounds like you are also unconciously clenching on the tooth and agitating it.....Take some pain killer (aleve is good for tooth pain) and try to not focus on it.....

You will have to see him again....

P.S............pain is always worse at night....really....take the pain killer.....

  2. Go to see the dentist again. He'll give you pain medication.
