Bruising After a Nipple Piercing?

How common is this? I went and got my nipples pierced yesterday and apparently the piercier punctured one of my blood vessels. Therefore, my right nipple is severely bruised. Is there anything I can do to help this? Or any special precautions I need to be taking to keep it from worsening?

Yes it is very common.  Getting a piercing is very similar to getting an injection or IV, both of which cause bruising.  One thing you can do to reduce the pain and swelling is to put ice on it and to take anti-inflammatory drugs such as Ibuprofen (Advil, Motrin, etc.).  As for preventing the swelling from getting worse, you should probably keep people from twisting, flicking, biting, or sucking on your nipple until it feels better.

Ouch!!!!!!! I got mine done and it bruised to the extreme!!. Just keep washing it in slaty water and putting after care cream on it. the bruising will go down just like a normal one does.

Icing it can help but you might just have to live with the bruise for a while. b*****s are really sensitive so bruising is pretty common. I've seen entire b*****s bruised after getting pierced.

Yes its very normal. When i had mine done one was also bruised. You just have to wait it out

Do a google image search for keloid, it often happens with piercings.

It's pretty normal with all piercings. Just keep ice on it and keep it clean and it'll clear up just fine.

An ice pack will help the swelling, but it will make the jewelry get really really cold.  Ibuprofen is a good anti-inflammatory and should help with any pain.  It should clear up on its own in a week or so, but if it doesn't see a doc!

that sucks, just cut a piece of potato and put it on the bruise, it will suck up some of the bad from the bruise

It's common, put some aloe on it and it should help the bruising from worsening. Though it does help if you have someone else put it on you. PICK ME!

Why don't you just take a bone and stick it through your nose. There is nothing less attractive on a girl than a piercing. Hopefully you learned a lesson before you get one of those "tramp stamps" on your butt to.

ouch...i think the bruising will go away..i got my belly button pierced 3 weeks ago and i have a bruise still. look at all these jerks on here like you are the first person to ever get your nipples pierced. i was going to do it but decided to get a tattoo on my boob instead. a bruise is just a bruise i think you'll be ok...give it a while to heal...and don't listen to people judging you its your body do whatever you want! if you were a man and got it they wouldnt be sayin c**p like that.

Yes the best advise from p.leidek.  You matter far more than this and you doc may just say all is OK but better to get it checked

Whilst thie piercing in my view is just about the hottest thing imaginable your personal health is far more valuable
