Brumbies in injury troubles ahead of clash with Western Force – Super Rugby update
With the Western Force’s clash coming up, the Brumbies have made four major alterations in the squad. This Super Rugby clash will be played on Sunday at Canberra, while Western Force has got Willie Ripia opening for them after losing to Waratahs last week.
Adam Ashley Cooper has made his recovery after picking up a serious hip injury. He will playing for his side, but not on the starting line-up. Cooper is benched and is expected to make appearance near second half.
Tony Rea, the coach for Brumbies believes the Ashley Cooper has not been through enough training this week to show up in starting line. Cooper was witnessed to be limping off the field last week in Brumbies’ fixture against Hurricanes, in which Rea’s side
won by 17-16.
Rea is forced to make a few changes due to the undesired injuries of few important players. Huia Edmonds picked up a hamstring strain and has left the spot for hooker empty, while the winger Henry Speight is still suffering from a sensitive ankle injury.
The coach had to make a perfect bunch for the Australian rivals, but is having difficulties in doing so.
Anthony Hegarty, the hooker will be making his first ever Super Rugby appearance of his career. Along with him Elvis Levi is also introduced, but Hegarty will be playing in starting lineup, whereas Levi will be on bench.
Tony Rea has invited Pat McCabe to get off the benches and show up on field, as Henry Speight doesn’t seem to be recovering from his ankle injury. On the other wing position Rea called up Francis Fainifo to make a start.
Salesi Ma’afu has been relegated to the benches due to his performance, while Dan Palmer, the tight head prop will make his return to the first fifteen against Western Force. Rea hasn’t called Julian Salvi off the bench and to surprise of many analysts Michael
Hooper has still retained his position as an open side.
Western Force and Brumbies both have had a tough season and couldn’t take much out of it. Force has also announced its squad, but it’s Brumbies that had the most issues arising due to injuries. It will be an interesting match, as both the rivals have a tough
record against each other and are hungry for a win right now. It is expected that Brumbies might lose its color if Western Force are given a little room with the ball.
