Brumbies in midst of injuries ahead of next Super Rugby clash
The ACT Brumbies have found them in deep trouble ahead of their next clash against the Waratahs in the ongoing Super Rugby Championship.
Three of their key players have been restricted to watch the match while sitting on the benches due to injuries. Hooker Stephen Moore, fullback Pat McCabe and Mitchell Chapman have been struck by various injuries.
Two of the players including McCabe and Moore have been excluded from the side due to ankle and hamstring injuries whereas the flanker Chapman has been struck by serious blow on his head. The trio has been doing fine for the Brumbies in the past and their
absence is likely to be missed during the match. The replacements did not seem to fill the vacuum that has not much of experience under their belts.
The upcoming match of the Brumbies is a do-or-die game for them to stay in the Super Rugby championship. They are almost on their lowest ebb in the current championship as they have lost three consecutive matches previously. The fitness problems have added
insult to their injuries as they have only claimed a single victory so far in the championship.
The Brumbies would try new combination in the centre which was quite a reliable for their coach Tony Rea. Ashley Cooper is named to replace fullback McCabe whereas Christian Lealiifano and Andrew Smith would be tried at inside centre.
The other cause of worry for the Brumbies is that of frustrated supporters who have been dishearten by their play. The officials are expecting better display from their side otherwise they may face a bitter situation. There is a noticeable decrease in the
number of viewers due to the bad start of the local team but still the previous match attracted more than 22,000 supporters.
The replacing Lealiifano is excited about his inclusion in the side and is hopeful of performing well in the match.
He said, “I'd like to mix up my game a little bit and keep the Waratahs on their toes. I like more time and a bit of space and definitely hope to take the load off Matt Giteau.”
