Brumbies pleased over thrilling win against Hurricanes
Saturday’s win against the Hurricanes means a lot to the Brumbies. It was the first breakthrough for them after five successive defeats in the championship. They defeated the Hurricanes after a close contest by 17-16 in a Super Rugby match.
The Australia-based conference has been placed on overall 10th position on the point’s tables whereas fourth among their home teams.
The ACT Brumbies skipper Matt Giteau has been flattered by the victory and he finds it as a breather. The Brumbies were totally out of colours during the whole season as they could not produce any victory in last five rounds. Giteau is now optimistic that
his team is back on track.
He told the reporters today at the practice session that we were having poor season this year and during previous few matches we could score lesser than fewer points in the games. The average score for Brumbies in previous five matches was under seven. The
skipper told the media that his side was very excited after the nail biting victory.
Giteau said, “The group is very enthusiastic getting back into training.”
He argued that they made few changes for the match that really worked on the day. He also claimed that they would same way against the Western Force on coming Sunday. The scrum coach Marco Caputo however told the media that their winger Henry Speight has
been declared unfit for next clash.
The Brumbies have been struck badly by the injuries in this season as they have already lost Rocky Elsom of hamstring, Stephen Moore with ankle injury, Mitchell Chapman cheekbone and Stephen Hoiles has been suffering from Achilles.
The fresh wounded player Henry Speight has been declared unfit for six weeks for his syndesmosis injury. He was the real hope for his team as he scored the only try during the last match against the Hurricanes. Stephen Moore would undergo the scans to judge
the severity of his injury.
He is hopeful of his return as he said, “'I'm sure the coaches have probably given that some thought.”
He further said about the recent injuries, “It's always the way in those specialist positions, if you get a couple of injuries you're really tested there. Every team goes through it. We'll just have to see what happens.”
