Brumbies ready to take on the Melbourne Rebels - Super Rugby match update
The ACT Brumbies are ready to take on the Melbourne Rebels in their next match of Super Rugby on Friday, June 10. Both derbies are respectively placed at the last two positions on the points table among the other Australian conferences and are out of the
play-off run.
However, the Brumbies are a little better off than the Rebels on the overall points table with three wins and one draw out of 14 matches. The Brumbies are also coming from a surprising win over the Australian top spot Queensland Reds last weekend. On the
other hand the Rebels have just won three matches after the same number of outgoings.
The Brumbies, who were defeated by the Rebels in the early rounds of Super Rugby, are committed to display a better performance this time. The poor output of the Brumbies has already seen the sacking of their coach Andy Friend. Management has handed over
the team to Tony Rea.
Tony Rea was also unable to improve the worsening lot of the Brumbies and the management made another contract with former South African World Cup winning coach, Jaque White, who will start his duties after the end of current season of Super Rugby.
Julian Salvi, the fly-half of the Brumbies, expressed his feelings for the upcoming clash and said that a close contest is expected on Friday. He further said that his squad would try to level the equation with the Rebels. He added, "The Rebels obviously
beat us in Melbourne last time, so it would be great to get back one, big time," Salvi said on Monday. We'll be looking at enacting some revenge on those boys. They'll have a few Canberra heads coming to play and play for some pride as well."
The Brumbies flanker also spoke to the occasion and said, "After the season we've had, coming in on a Monday with a win doesn't make you feel so sore. It was definitely a physical game, it was a step up from a few of the games recently. The guys are really
keen to put in another good performance and not have a one-off."
The Brumbies will take on the Rebels on June 10 in the 17th round of Super Rugby.
