The VfB Stuttgart manager expressed his frustration on his side’s DFB-Pokal exit and has called for improvement for the future games.
Die Roten’s dismal form continued as they were knock-out of the German Cup at the hands of Bayern Munich on Wednesday, at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena. The Swabians suffered a 2-0 loss in the fixture courtesy goals from Mario Gomez
and Franck Ribery.
Labbadia is upset with his team’s showing in front of the home fans and admitted that there were no positives to take from the game. He admitted that the team needed a strong performance against the Bavarian giants to regain their
lost form but it was a disappointing showing.
The manager insisted that the side started with an attacking mentality by placing three players on the attack but that did not work for them as Bayern were far more superior in midfield. He added that the defence was way below
par in the clash and there were hardly any good challenges made.
“I'd have liked to see my team put in a rather more courageous display. We wanted to apply pressure with our three forwards, based on a very disciplined defensive platform. We never got stuck into our tackles,” the manager was
quoted as saying in an interview.
On the other hand, Stuttgart defender http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serdar-Tasci-c32929 claimed that it was unfortunate for his side to be knocked-out in the quarter-final of the competition as they had played the tournament so well. But he admitted that the team
did not deserve to progress judging by the performance against Bayern.
The centre-back added that his players did not press on the opposition because of which the Munich giants had so much time on the ball.
“We had big plans and wanted to make the next round. Unfortunately we've fallen short, because we weren't proactive, and we weren't close enough to our men. That makes it difficult against Bayern, who are technically so skilled,”
Tasci added.
