Bruno Langlois wins the final stage of the Tour de Beauce while Rory Sutherland claimed an overall victory
Bruno Langlois of Team Garneau-Quebecor-Norton Rose helped his side with an important victory during the final stage of the race.
The cyclist rode brilliantly during the 125 kilometre race at the Circuit Ville de St-Georges and restricted the race favourites.
The Canadian was delighted after the victory and thanked his team-mates for their continuous support during the six-day race.
He cited, "When the gap was 30 seconds I said to myself, at worst I'll get caught, I have nothing to lose," said Langlois, who was accompanied by his parents at the podium.
"I saw Marsh Cooper coming up and I thought it was good because Optum wouldn't chase".
"It shows we have the level to be a continental team".
Marsh Cooper of Team Optum p/b Kelly Benefit Strategies fell two seconds short and occupied the second position with Matthias Friedemann of Team Champion System Pro Cycling finishing further 19 seconds behind at the third position.
Christian Meier of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada, Evan Oliphant of Team Raleigh-GAC and Francisco Mancebo of Team Competitive Cyclist Racing Team secured the fourth, the fifth and the sixth positions respectively.
Svein Tuft of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada achieved the 20th position and noted that catching Bruno was impossible as he was lightning fast during the race.
“He's got such a good acceleration on him that it's hard to catch him off guard," said Tuft. "We definitely didn't go down without a fight, but we just couldn't crack him".
Christian Meier of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada succeeded during the first, the second and the third sprints of the race.
Rory Sutherland of Team UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling maintained his overall lead and claimed the top overall position after the final general classifications.
Hugo Houle of Team Spidertech p/b C10 secured the second spot with a total deficit of 19 seconds on the race leader.
Christian Meier and Svein Tuft of Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada claimed the third and the fourth positions after the overall classifications.
Team Unitedhealthcare Pro Cycling topped the team’s classifications with Team Spidertech p/b C10 and Team Equipe Nationale Du Canada securing the second and the third positions.
