Bruno Senna believes 2013 Pirelli tyres will be better – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Bruno Senna is hoping to perform better in 2013 as he expects improvements in the next year’s Pirelli compound tyres.
Senna has struggled in most of the races in the season so far and one of the major reasons for that includes the tyre degradation issues which many other drivers have faced also. Nevertheless, he thinks that the Italian tyre company is making the best of
the preparations to come up with improved tyre compound in the coming season which will help the drivers to perform well.
“Next year we will have new tyres again which can shuffle the order around a little bit,” he said. “Pirelli is trying to make the tyres a bit more, let's say, wider ranging for driving styles so that more people with different driving styles can achieve
the same sort of laptime and we will see what is going to happen.”
In addition, he said that Pirelli have come up with some changes to both the front and the rear tyres so as to eliminate some problems. However, the modifications have created a difference in the speed of the drivers.
“Pirelli made some changes to the front and rear tyres [this year] to mitigate some of the issues they were having and every time you change one thing in the tyre you are going to introduce another characteristic,” he explained.
It will be important to mention that the race seat of the Brazilian driver in his present team is not secured as his contract is going to end at the conclusion of this year. Meanwhile, Williams’ executive director, Toto Wolff has said that they are currently
evaluating some options for their next year’s driver line-up.
Besides, he said that there are chances that they may replace Senna or his teammate, Pastor Maldonado with their reserve driver, Valtteri Bottas who has performed incredibly well in the Young Driver Test and has also replaced the Brazilian driver in many
free practice sessions in the season until now.
Nonetheless, the 29-year-old is not feeling upset and is positively looking forward to perform well in the remainder of the ongoing season.
