Bruno Senna claims he had great practice session for Lotus Renault GP – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP’s test driver Bruno Senna drove for the team during one of the Friday practice sessions of the 2011 Hungarian Grand Prix after which he claims that he had a ‘great session’ even though he finished in 15th place which is quite
disappointing for a team like Renault.
“It was a great session for me in the car this morning; I learnt more about the car, and the evolution of it. I would have liked to have run on another set of tyres to get in a quicker lap time but it was still a great experience and very beneficial,” he
said.
He claims that the team’s goal was to save the tyres as much as they could as a result of which he was not able to push as hard as he could have. Therefore, his lap time was around 8 tenths of a second short of his teammate Vitaly Petrov.
“Ideally, I would like to have achieved a faster time, but I had a productive time out there. I'm glad the weather held out as it allowed me to take what I wanted from the 90 minutes. It was a fantastic opportunity and I enjoyed every moment, no doubt about
it,” he added.
Nick Heidfeld did not take part in FP1 and this is not good news for him since he has been criticised by the team since the past couple of weeks and his performance as a leading driver of the team has not been up to the mark.
Lotus Renault GP have not been able to cope up with Mercedes GP, their top rivals in the constructors’ standings since the past couple of races as a result of which, Mercedes are now in 4th place ahead of Renault.
The team went through two disappointing practice sessions this weekend as well and now it seems that Mercedes GP are going to perform much better than them during both qualifying and the race of the Hungarian Grand Prix according to their current pace and
lap times.
