Bruno Senna concerned about HRT F1’s future
Bruno Senna, the nephew of the legendary Ayrton Senna seems concerned about his future and HRT F1’s future. He visited his native land of Sao Paulo during the August break. The local media asked him about his 'Plan B' in case he cannot make it to F1 in the year 2011. The Brazilian joked that he will be selling coconuts on the beach before stating his true intentions.
Bruno Senna believes that his chance of continuing in Formula 1 is a 100%. He added that it is too early to say because similarly in 2009, he seemed to have a good chance of driving in team Honda but that changed as Formula 1 is a fast moving world. Senna is aware of how things are in the Formula 1 world. He expressed the fact that people cannot plan or foresee anything especially in the Formula 1. The only thing that one can believe is a signed contract. There are always talks but nothing official. Teams are struggling now and a few teams don't have guarantees that they will be on the grid.
Bruno admitted that he needs to work harder to stay in Formula 1. In this team or another, either way, it will not be easy. Three new teams have so far, failed to be even close to matching the pace of the established teams. The new teams have been five seconds slower than the front-runners regularly on clocking lap times. Bernie Eccleston’s (CEO and president of the Formula 1 Management and Formula 1 Administration) recent comments suggest that some of the new teams may leave the Formula 1 grid sooner than later. Bruno hopes that this situation will not arise.
This is Bruno Senna’s first season and his best finish was in 16th place. Spectators are expecting good results from him in the years to come. It is a massive burden on his shoulders as he is often compared with his legendary uncle, Ayrton Senna. Ayrton Senna became the Formula 1 Champion 3 times in the years 1988, 1990 and 1991. He won 41 races with 80 podium positions and 65 pole positions. He died in an accident during the 1994 San Marino Grand Prix. It was one of the most tragic races in Formula 1 history. He was in Formula 1 since 1984-1994.
He was a part of team Toleman in his debut year and ended in ninth position with three podiums. After that, he joined Lotus, stayed with them for the next 3 years, and scored six wins in this time. He came 4th in the first two years with the team and 3rd in his last year with them after which he joined McLaren in 1988. He won the drivers’ championship the same year and stayed with McLaren until 1993 after which he joined Williams in 1994. He won 35 races with McLaren. Ayrton was a genius. He was one of the best racers of all time.
Nevertheless, spectators expect such results from Bruno in the years to come. He is currently at the tail end of the drivers’ standings and his team is in the same situation as far as the constructors’ championship is concerned. Things might possibly improve in the last few races but they do not look very strong at the moment.
Bruno said that HRT’s bosses are making plans and it would be excellent if he could simply choose the team, as he plans to stay in Formula 1 for a long time. He shed light on the fact that he does not have a very competitive car but is happy with it. He claims that it has been a good learning experience for him. The German expects things to go his way in the near future and fans probably hope for the same.
