Bruno Senna feels content despite setting slowest time on second day of Mugello test – Formula 1
Williams’ driver Bruno Senna is feeling contended despite setting the slowest time, due to some development work, on the second day of the in-season test held at Mugello circuit.
The Brazilian driver expressed that they remained busy throughout the morning session as they were testing some updates in their car. Moreover, he said that they were successful in gathering some useful information about the car at the end of the day.
“It was a long day,” he said. “We tried a million parts in the car, and all of these parts needed validation, so we tried exactly the same thing, with procedures. The morning was very boring, but it was important to get it out of the way, and fortunately
the day was good in terms of weather so we got some good information.”
Even though, he came last on the timesheets on Wednesday running, however, he said that their aim was to make the essential evaluations of the car rather than to set the best time during the day.
“You always want to be in the top part of the times, but you don't know what everyone else is doing in the field, and this is a track that if you take some fuel out of the car, the lap-time comes big time. It was more important for us to know where we are
than do a lap-time,” he added.
Williams are currently at 7th position in the constructors’ standings with 18 points and are just 1 point ahead of Force India team.
Besides, at present, Senna is at 11th place in the drivers’ championship with 14 points as he secured 6th and 7th place finish in the second and third race held at Sepang International Circuit in Malaysia and Shanghai International Circuit in China. Conversely,
he could not score even a single point in the first and the fourth race this year.
On the other hand, his teammate, Pastor Maldonado, is at 14th place in the drivers’ rankings with 4 points ahead of Daniel Ricciardo of Toro Rosso.
Over and above, Williams are trying to bring out the best in them in order to secure a competitive position in 2012 Formula 1 championship.
