Bruno Senna hopes to show good pace in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Bruno Senna is hoping to perform well in 2012 Canadian Grand Prix which is to be held at Circuit Gilles-Villeneuve in Montreal on June 10.
Bruno is currently at 13th place in the drivers’ championship with 15 points. Furthermore, he is 5 points ahead of Felipe Massa of Ferrari and 4 points behind Kamui Kobayashi of Sauber-Ferrari.
Even though, the Brazilian driver has only been able to score points in three of the first six races. Nevertheless, he is positively looking forward to score some reasonable points in the approaching race with his competitive car.
“Canada is one of the most challenging tracks of the season. It is also important to have as much track time as possible before the weekend to learn the track surface because it can evolve quickly. Our car is looking competitive at this stage of the season
so hopefully we can show good pace here,” he said.
On the other hand, his teammate, Pastor Maldonado who secured his maiden victory in the Spanish GP held at Circuit de Catalunya in Barcelona is presently at 9th position in the drivers’ rankings with 29 points. Moreover, he is 7 points ahead of Sergio Perez
of Sauber-Ferrari and 6 points behind Romain Grosjean of Lotus.
Unfortunately, in the Monaco GP, he faced ten-place grid penalty because of his collision with Sergio Perez of Sauber in the qualifying and could not score even a single point as he was retired during the race. Nonetheless, the Venezuelan driver said that
he is aiming for a strong race in Montreal.
Meanwhile, the chief operations engineer of Williams, Mark Gillan also expressed that they have been trying to make the necessary preparations and the significant advancements in order to improve the pace of their car for the forthcoming races with an aim
to secure a good position in this year’s championship.
He added, “On the back of a mixed weekend in Monaco the whole team is looking to demonstrate further improvement in Montreal, with the aim of getting both cars home in the points. Montreal is a great race and usually full of drama.”
