Bruno Senna hoping for positive results with Lotus Renault GP – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP driver Bruno Senna has recently stated that he is hoping for some positive results at the upcoming 2011 Italian Grand Prix and he is hoping for a good positive connection between him and the team in the near future as well.
“I believe I'm a fast learner, so I'm going to use all the knowledge I've built up in the past six months as a third driver, such as participating on the technical issues, to help make the strongest impact that I can and give the team the best possible chance
to start scoring some good points again,” he said.
The team decided to use him for the Belgian and Italian Grands Prix as a replacement for Nick Heidfeld since the team claimed that Heidfeld was not performing up to the mark. In an aftermath of the situation between Heidfeld and Renault, both reached an
out-of-court settlement and it was decided that Senna will drive for the team in the remainder of the season.
Vitaly Petrov on the other hand has been delivering consistently satisfactory performances but still it is quite disappointing for the team as they secured two podiums in the first two races of the 2011 Formula 1 season and now they are struggling to cope
up with their closest rivals Mercedes GP.
Mercedes GP are currently in 4th place in the constructors’ standings 30 points ahead of Renault who are in 5th place.
However, Senna was unable to deliver a good result at the Belgian Grand Prix but the team is aware that he needs some time and help as this is the first time he is driving for the team in a race and he would require some time to settle in.
“I think I've always been able to offer good feedback on the car; I'm confident I'll be able to help set a strong car up for qualifying and the race,” said Senna.
The upcoming Italian Grand Prix is going to be quite interesting for the teams as it is the fastest track on the Formula 1 calendar as a result of which the Drag Reduction Systems will be tested at their peak. The teams will be hoping for some pretty variable
setups for their respective cars in Monza. Let’s see how they fare.
