Bruno Senna insists he is yet to push the R31 to its limit – Formula 1 news
Lotus Renault GP’s Bruno Senna insists that he is yet to push his R31 to the limit and that he is hoping for better results now keeping in mind that he had a very disappointing Friday during the 2011 Belgian Grand Prix which is his first race weekend for
the team.
“I'm sure that if it's dry it's going to be a really big challenge in qualifying. Today I had a very tough dry running with some traffic and also some KERS issues. So I couldn't really focus on pushing the car hard and of course I had to be very careful
not to but a wheel on the wet line and going off again,” he said.
Senna finished in a disappointing 17th place in the timesheets of the second free practice session and since he has replaced a driver like Nick Heidfeld at the team, the team must be expecting a lot from the young Brazilian
this weekend.
However, one has to admit that it was his first run as a race driver for the team and the nerves are probably getting the best of him at the moment. He would have to overcome all his problems and satisfy the team giving them the confidence that he has the
ability to perform well in all sorts of conditions.
“The pressure would be the same if I was completely guaranteed to do the next three years. What I want to do is sit down in the car and deliver, I know that the pressure is there but my pressure is bigger than the pressure that has come from the outside,”
he added.
This is a great opportunity for the Brazilian driver as Renault are one of the more established mid-running teams of the sport and if he makes his mark with the team, then his future in the sport would be secured.
Otherwise, he might not get an opportunity like this in Formula 1 ever again as a result of which he would just be another average Formula 1 driver unlike his late uncle Ayrton Senna.
