Bruno Senna not worried about his future with Williams F1 – Formula 1 news
Bruno Senna of the Williams F1 racing team claims that he is relaxed regarding his future with the team despite a not-so-well performance in the 2012 season.
The driver has been under a lot of speculation as he has failed to give a satisfactory performance in the current season. Teammate Pastor Maldonado has also not been any better but he was able to earn a race victory for Williams at the Spanish Grand Prix.
Both drivers have no contract deal with the team for the next year. Maldonado’s race win might earn him his position back with Williams but Senna’s poor performance could put him out. It is also commonly known that Maldonado is sponsored by PDVSA, a Venezuelan
government oil company, thus he is able to bring financial support to Williams F1.
It is expected that Williams F1 might replace the driver with their reserved driver Valtteri Bottas. Bottas has been able to impress the team with his speed as he drove Senna’s car in morning practice sessions.
However, Senna has confessed that he is not worried. He was talking to the press during Williams’ open day at Silverstone when he said, “I just need to keep focusing on doing my job. I've had some bad luck recently which has put me on the back foot in terms
of results, but I've had many strong races and I just need to keep on with that and hopefully that will result in a seat for next year.”
He added, “The most important thing is the result on the race track. If you get results, your future is normally in better shape.”
The team’s executive director Toto Wolff has admitted that they are considering different options for the driver line up of next year. The director added that an announcement is to be expected this year and it is going to be a tough decision but they are
focusing on the current season and current drivers right now. He said that it was very important they do that. He added that the team was not happy with the recent performances but then everyone had problems in Korea.
