Bruno Senna out of HRT – Colin Kolles
HRT team Principal Colin Kolles confirmed dropping their last year’s driver, Bruno Senna from the team for the 2011 season. While talking to the media earlier this week, Kolles said that the final decision had been taken and Narain Karthikeyan would be taking
the seat of Senna in the team.
Senna entered Formula One at the start of the 2010 season amidst great hype and fanfare. Being the nephew of arguably the greatest racer ever in the history of the sport, Ayrton Senna, he had a lot to live up to. All through the season, the fans of the great
Ayrton Senna anticipated seeing the champion's glance in his nephew, but were disappointed time and again. However, it would not be fair to blame the driver solely. The HRT package was far from competitive for the tough 2010 grid, and the team further faced
several issues like, management and finance.
Senna raced in 18 out of the total 19 races in his debut season, while the second seat of the team kept rotating among other drivers like, Karun Chandhok, Christian Klien and Sakon Yamamoto. However, the driver was not able to earn even a single point throughout
the season, with 14th being his best race finish.
Now, while talking about the 2011 drivers’ line-up, Kolles made clear that Senna will not be seen on the 2011 track with the Hungarian team.
"I can definitely say that Mr. Bruno Senna is not going to race for HRT, 100% not.” He told the reporters. He further added that he is happy to have the Indian driver Karthikeyan in his team as the next calendar is going to hold the first Indian Grand Prix.
The Indian has also brought a big sponsor with him for the team in the shape of Tata; the Indian car giant, which is believed to be the primary reason of the Indian's appointment. The big sponsor would've have been too hard to resist for Kolles who will now
be looking to resolve most of the financial issues of the team.
When asked about the second team driver, Kolles proclaimed that talks are being carried with "a few drivers" including Klien, Yamamoto and some other former Formula One racers but so far nothing has been decided. He assured that the final line-up will be
given by the end of January.
Other than HRT, Force India is the only team not to have announced its drivers for the next season. There are rumours that Adrian Sutil and Paul di Resta will be seen with the Indian team next season, however, the official statement is yet to come.
