Bruno Senna says he already knew Valtteri Bottas will replace him in 2013 – Formula 1 news
Williams’ driver Bruno Senna has said that he already knew that he will be replaced by Valtteri Bottas in the 2013 Formula 1 season and insisted that he has no hard feelings towards his team for this decision.
Senna has not been able to perform well for his team in this season and has failed to attain competitive results. Moreover, he had been surrounded by many rumours throughout the season that he might be replaced by the reserve driver of the Grove based team,
Bottas which have finally proven out to be correct as it has been recently confirmed that the Finn will drive as Pastor Maldonado’s teammate in the next season.
The 29-year-old has said that he is not feeling surprised about losing his race seat as he was aware of the announcement regarding Williams next year’s driver line-up.
“Since the beginning of my program with Williams I accepted that I had to share the car with Valtteri Bottas in 15 Fridays as a part of his preparation for a likely debut in 2013”, he said.
In addition, he said that he has learnt a lot during his stay in the British squad and will always cherish his memories. Besides, he expressed his gratitude towards the team for giving him the chance to race for the whole season.
He also thanked the team principal, Sir Frank Williams for all his love and support. Furthermore, he said that he will make the announcement regarding his future plans soon.
“It has been extremely satisfying to be the team's most regular point scorer and for me to demonstrate my pace in all 20 races. I have learned a lot and improved considerably through the season. I have had a relatively short career so far and feel as though
I have come a long way in just a few years,” he added.
It will be important to mention that the Finnish driver performed tremendously well in the Young Driver Test and replaced the Brazilian in many free practice sessions during the season. Let’s see how he performs with Maldonado in the next season.
